چکیده

Social networks are graphs to represent social relationships. Social networks often change, but graph theory is based on static graphs. To deal with such dynamics we start from Searle‘s construction of social reality [4]. Example 1Game of Diplomacy game board: map with countries, armies of players moves: attack; collect taxes; invest social relation: power, fear, trust, alliance, ... Speech acts (performatives) create institutional facts [1]. The classic example is marriage. Speech acts presuppose their felicity conditions. For example, a command presupposes that the speaker has some authority over the addressee. When the command is accepted, this reinforces the authority, but when the command is rejected, this undermines the authority [3].

A Modal Semantics for an Argumentation-Based Pragmatics for Agent Communication

In this paper we present a modal semantics for our approach based on social commitments and arguments for conversational agents. Our formal framework based on this approach uses three basic elements: social commitments, actions that agents apply to these social commitments and arguments that agents use to support their actions. This framework, called Commitment and Argument Network (CAN), forma...

A Pragmatic and Semantic Unified Framework for Agent Communication

In this thesis, we propose a unified framework for the pragmatics and the semantics of agent communication. Pragmatics deals with the way agents use communicative acts when conversing. It is related to the dynamics of agent interactions and to the way of connecting individual acts while building complete conversations. Semantics is interested in the meaning of these acts. It lays down the found...

Empirical Semantics of Agent Communication in Open Systems

The paper proposes a novel approach to the semantics of communication of self-interested and autonomous agents in open systems. It defines the semantics of communicative acts primarily as the observable effect of their actual use in social encounters, and differs thus fundamentally from mentalistic and current objectivist approaches to the semantics of agent communication languages. Empirical c...

Logic Based Semantics for an Agent Communication Language

Agent communication is one of the key issues in multi-agent systems. Traditional interprocess communication formalisms are usually considered insufficient for this purpose because of their lack of expressiveness; thus, in most proposals for multi-agent architectures, an Agent Communication Language (ACL) is designed to provide for agent communication. However, a universally accepted standard fo...

Social Network Semantics for Agent Communication ( Extended Abstract ) Guido

In this paper we introduce a semantics for agent communication languages based on social networks, providing us with a principled way to define and reason about their dynamics. As an instance we consider dependence networks, where the social relations represent that an agent depends on another agent to achieve its intentions. We suggest how FIPA semantics can be reconstructed in this social sem...

Semantics and Pragmatics for Agent Communication

For the successful management of interactions in open multiagent systems, a social framework is needed to complement a standard semantics and interaction protocols for agent communication. In this paper a rights-based framework in which interaction protocols and conversation policies acquire their meaning is presented. Rights improve interaction and facilitate social action in multi-agent domai...
